How to work with datasets in XML Workspace

Home / Resources / Tutorials / How to work with datasets in XML Workspace

To start working with datasets in Latitude App XML Workspace you need first to upload the XML Schema. Afterwards, you can upload datasets on the respective schema either in excel format or in xml format.

Follow the video tutorial or the instructions below and start working with your own datasets: convert xml files to excel, generate xml files based on data included in excel template.

To work with data sets in Latitude app go to XML Workspace. Here you will see all schemas in use (for uploading an XML Schema please see our tutorial on How to upload XML schema).

Once a schema is added in XML Workspace, using the Actions area from the right of the schema you can work with datasets, customize the XML schema or delete the schema.

To work with datasets press the Data sets icon form the Action area in the right side of the screen.

By pressing Data sets icon you will go to the datasets dashboard where you can see all datasets uploaded on the respective schema.

In this dashboard you can Customize the XML Schema, download the excel template that is generated based on the schema or upload datasets.

Datasets can be uploaded either in excel format or in xml format.

If you want to upload an excel file, the file needs to be in the format of the template generated by Latitude app. To download the template press the Download excel template icon at the top of the screen. The excel template is saved automatically in your Downloads folder.

After you fill in the data in the excel template downloaded, you can upload the excel file in Latitude App and generate the related xml file.

To upload the excel file, from the same datasets dashboard press the Upload data sets icon on the top of the screen.

After you press the Upload data set icon you choose the excel file you want to upload and you will imediatelly see a dialog box where you can choose the actions you want to take:

  • Perform XLSX to XML conversion
  • Validate resulting XML in DUK Validator
  • Convert XML back to XLSX for extra validation

Check the desired actions and then press the Save XLSX button.

After you press the Save XLSX button, in the dashboard area you can see the status of the dataset. When status is Complete from the Actions area you can download the initial EXCEL file as well as the results of the processing (e.g. download the validation in DUK integrator, download the resulted XML etc.).

If you want to upload an XML file, you follow the same steps as above. First from the same datasets dashboard press the Upload data set icon on the top of the screen.

After you press the Upload data set icon you choose the XML file you want to upload and you will imediatelly see a dialog box where you can choose the actions you want to take:

  • Perform XML validation in DUK Validator
  • XML to XLSX conversion

Check the desired actions and then press the Save XML button.

After you press the Save XML button, in  the dashboard area you can see the status of the dataset. When status is Complete from the Actions area you can download the initial XML file as well as the results of the processing (e.g. download the validation in DUK integrator, download the resulted EXCEL).
